ROADRUNNER CHAIR - WHITENED WHITE OAK

Yes, another test Roadrunner, this one in plain sawn white oak with a white-oiled finish.

So we tried this finish out before we ultimately settled on our whitened maple as a standard option. It's the same lovely, non-toxic, all-natural oil we use for the maple, only here the whiteness is less even, concentrated in the larger pores of the oak. The maple, as lovers of maple well know, has a very tight grain and a very smooth, dense surface. The oak? More grainy, more textured. We found that this graininess (and the higher tannin content) made it perfect for our blackened finish. Still, this chair is very pretty and exceptionally soft to the touch, with the grain pattern subtly highlighted with the white wash. And needless to say, it's super comfortable (it is a Roadrunner after all). One of a kind.
