CHAIR GRAVEYARD: GRASSHOPPER—FRED PERRY
OK, not exactly a chair graveyard (who in their right mind would pronounce those fiberglass shell chairs dead?) but that Fred Perry Grasshopper is at the very least retired. The one shown is the prototype—the only one—made a couple years ago for the CO Design show at P Design Gallery (may it rest in peace). He's got a dapper look, with a mix of green suede and cream leather upholstery, a solid walnut seat and a painted bent steel base. We shuffled him down the street to our friends' spot where we visit him from time to time. Still fun to be around, still dressed to the nines, still ready for a couple sets out on the lawn.
